Hi everyone! Let me take some time to tell you a little bit about myself.
My name is Becca and I’m a millennial LPC. That means I’ve lived through wars, terrorist attacks, recessions, housing crises, presidential scandals, overturning of Supreme Court rulings, and a pandemic. That also means that I’ve experienced some of the best TV, music, entertainment, and celebrity icons/scandals. My generation was the some of the first to experience social media in the form we know it to be now.
I’ve seen new generations take over the work force and fight back toxic ideas of work ethic, an expansion on mental health acceptance, and a new understanding of identity and inclusion. The end of DOMA, the rise of Black Lives Matter, and voting rights issues have all been hot button topics not only in my personal life as a 30 something American, but have also snuck into my practice as a therapist. I’ll do us all a favor and keep my opinions on some of these things to a minimum, but they all do raise huge questions on what it means to be a client and a therapist in the 2020s. Hopefully, my posts can shed a little light on issues that I see popping up consistently in my practice and in my own life, as I navigate my own journey to improve my mental health, relationships, and quality of life.
I’ve worked with all different populations, ages, and settings. These experiences have given me some interesting knowledge and opinions. I hope that some of these posts will help you navigate the system whether you’re a client, therapist, or an innocent bystander. Through a lot of my ramblings, I’m hoping to share some insight and gain some insight. Hopefully my rants can bring meaning for some of you and help me grow in the process.
Like what seems like everyone else, I love true crime, documentaries, pop culture, and current events. That means I have a lot of opinions, guys! As hot topics unfold, I’ll throw in some hot takes on scandals, trials, pop culture events, and news, as this is also a place for me to get all these bouncing thoughts out of my brain!
Have some patience with me while I build this blog into what it needs to be so both you and I can get something rewarding from it all.
Thanks for sticking it out with me, and I’ll see you in the comments soon!
